When did people realize he was villain & how did they react to his ability to turn his hands into knives

they told you/showed you that in the trailer... but seeing the special effects and it actually looking good was unmatched at the time. people were going crazy in the theater. my pops took me when i was still little.. everytime t-1000 showed up everyone was like "oh shyt... here we go"

shyt gave me nightmares as a kid but I was about it at the same time.

I wish I could remember my first time seeing it. But as far back as my memories go, T2 is there amongst my earliest memories. I grew up watching it with my dad so I don’t ever remember a time where I hadn’t seen it.

But just in hindsight I find it hard believe many people could be shocked by who the villain turned out to be. The t1000 murders a cop in his opening sequence. Kyle Reese didn’t murder anyone for his clothes.

I think it would have been better had both terminators asked for clothes, or either the t1000 could have stolen the cop clothes so that the surprise could have been maintained until they both met with John. In fact they could have had the t1000 smiling and looking friendly the entire time until Arnold yells get down.
