Dap + Rep
Wow. I'm so happy there's at least one person on The Booth that is looking forward to this. it's really dope man. Edit: @Morose Polymath and @King Sun ya'll too. Will rep all 3 of you guys.

I talked to Boog about this. Apparently he stopped rapping in 2012 because after 3 Away Team albums with Khrysis and 3 solo projects on Jamla, he realized he would never be one of the greats. And he said if he couldn't be one of the greats then why bother trying to keep rapping at his age. I thought that was a dope and honest answer. 9th Wonder offered him a leadership role at Jamla and he had a successful business on the side, so he just fell back.

I asked him about this one, and he said with all the madness going on that he felt inspired to speak about some of the shyt going on, and make a night-time ride out EP to give people something to chill to.

The irony is that I think his bars are sharper here than the last time I heard him.

I'm always down for some NC rap. :ehh:

Prolly my fav track by him :whew:

:russ: A lot of people hate that hook. That was fun at live shows though. That was one of the first 2 or 3 joints he did with Khrysis. I think that was when they decided they should be a group.

They did a sequel and it was the very last joint Boog dropped before retiring. The growth in production from Khrysis and the bars from Boog is dope.

I think we've talked about this before, but deep cut Jamla/IWWMG/Justus League/Low Budget era is my shyt.

That's the "backpack" shyt I grew up on and got me into basically everything I'm into now, and The Away Team is definitely a part of that. I played the fukk out of National Anthem when it dropped

@TheDarceKnight since I've got you here - what happed to HaLo aka Mr. Ben Ready?

Just going back through my collection and saw Heatwriter II. Another joint I played the hell out of. He's got songs I consider personal classics on that tape.

"My summer's so hot, you'll need a extra month
I push May back like Ross n 'em cats"

:wow:

I don’t know what happened to Halo man. I was actually worried for a second that something happened to him. He pretty much vanished off the earth like a wandering monk or something. He was a great dude. The only cat I met from Jamla that wasn’t around in the Justus League days that I really vibed with, pause. When he vs usher I tried hitting him up but it went to a voicemail that hadn’t been set up yet.

I sent a couple messages to people just asking if he’s okay and was told he’s fine but I literally don’t know anything else. The last time he heard him on any song was a good 3-4 years ago.

I’ll try and find out more. He was getting bette every release too.
