im a huge pac, nas, big, fan but none of them ever rapped as good as jay did on reasonable doubt.

I think his business mind stopped him from being the goat.

like he said on moment of clarity

The music business hate me
'cause the industry ain't make me
Hustlers and boosters embrace me
And the music I be making
I dumb down for my audience
And double my dollars
They criticize me for it
Yet they all yell "Holla"
If skills sold
Truth be told
I'd probably be
Lyrically
Talib Kweli
Truthfully
I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
(But I did five Mil)
I ain't been rhyming like Common since
When your sense got that much in common
And you been hosteling since
Your inception
fukk perception
Go with what makes sense
Since
I know what I'm up against
We as rappers must decide what's most important
And I can't help the poor if I'm one of them
So I got rich and gave back
To me that's the win, win
The next time you see the homie and his rims spin
Just know my mind is working just like them
(The rims that is)

I agree with pac not rapping as good as jay on reasonable doubt, but no way when it comes to biggie and nas. they're all on the same level rap wise imo. all three of them utter geniuses

I just really can't agree with that breh. Nas is a top tier emcee, Illmatic came out in '94 (I think) and Reasonable doubt came out in 96 (I think??) so if you wanna do that, compare it was written with reasonable doubt. You may like jay as an emcee better but I don't see how you can say lyrically jay was better. and ready to die is on the same level as reasonable doubt, illmatic, it was written imo.

i said illmatic because its nas at his best but jay was rapping better than him on iww 2. I mean its all opinion but i dont really think its close lyrically its just jay knew that would slow up his money

and yes nas is top tier but so is hov and big and pac and others

LEt's be honest, Pac was only 25 at his height. And with the kinda rapper he was, he would've only got better with life experience b/c THAT is what he rapped from.

He died at 26. Most dudes dont even know who they are at 26.

Jay was already almost like 30 or so when he started poppin.
