Older music heads, school me on Terence Trent D'Arby

I was lurking the Prince forum awhile back, and posters there were claiming people thought D'Arby was the next successor to when he dropped his first album in 87. Were they overexaggerating or was that the general feeling?

I don't know if he was thought of as a successor. He was good but not MJ good.

Excellent talent. Covered a certain area of pop back then. Inflated ego lead to downfall.
