Cornfields, cows, & an one stoplight town
So I'm starting my horror movie marathon for Halloween, and I decide to kick it off with an oldie but goody- Candyman. Now I wasn't under any delusions that this was an Oscar level film, but I do have fond memories of it being sufficiently scary.

:mjlol:

I must have viewed this when I was very young because this movie is really bad, like, borderline comedy. This also occurred when I tried to view Salem's Lot again. As a child, that movie scared me shytless, but if I could go back in time I would give my younger self the :comeon: for being so shook over those bad camera tricks.

Do you have an old horror movie you once thought was impressive but now consider :trash:?

is this a serious thread?:what: How "new" do you like your horror movies, OP? Outside of about 5-6 titles, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s horror movies>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>over anything in the past 20 years

I think people are confused about my question. I'm not shytting on old movies and saying new movies are better. Check my avi. I'm saying that there are movies we put on pedestals that don't belong there when we go back and rewatch them. I wasn't even thinking about new movies when I made this thread. I'm not sure why the comparison is being made between new and old movies. I thought it was a given new horror movies suck.

I'm talking about nostaglia clouding clarity before repeated viewings. Maybe I should have taken "old" out of the title though. :lupe:

Poltergeist is laughably bad when you go back and watch it

You know it's not as half as scary as I originally thought it was when I saw it at like 12, but it still has some solid tension. Especially the tree coming through the window scene and the clown on the rocking chair and under the bed scenes.
