If you were at that impressionable age in 1991 and 1993, then you no doubt were changed one way or another when you experienced the greatness that were these two movies.
When Terminator 2 dropped, shyt pretty much set the stage for almost every action movie to follow. Not only was it the biggest action movie ever at the time, but it also set groundwork for special effects, production, and solidified Arnold Schwarzenegger as the undisputed GOAT action movie star. For myself, it was probably the most important movie of my youth, since I never got to experience Episode IV or V in the theater. I still enjoy Predator more, and honestly think it a better movie, but I was still too young to appreciate what that movie was, unlike my experience with T2.
Jurassic Park probably was most others' experience, that T2 was for me. JP just crushed so many buildings, and it brought shyt to life that you would never have thought to have ever seen. The T-Rex scene itself is one of my top movie moments ever, and had you scared, but unable to take your eyes off of it. The movie was like an attraction, with you wanting to jump right back in line once the ride was over. I can't think of too many other movies that was just so imagination grabbing for us at that age.
One aspect that both movies had that helped us as kids, was that there were actual kid characters that didn't derail the movie, despite coming close a few times. Relating to John Conner or Dr. Hammond's grand kids gave us a chance to connect a little more intimately with the films themselves.
I watched T2 last night, and as a dude past 30, I'm just impressed with how much James Cameron was able to accomplish back in 1991. Granted, I understand now why other than the 4 main stars, why so many no-names were cast. The production and Arnold's contract ain't leave enough money
