OKLAHOMA CITY -
Thunder Alley, as we know it, can't continue, according to the mayor of Oklahoma City.
Mayor Mick Cornett says while he supports the idea of "Thunder Alley," he has decided to look into alternative ways to celebrate Thunder basketball. The move stems from the shooting in Bricktown Monday night that injured eight people.
Cornett made the decision after talking it over with the city manager and the chief of Oklahoma City Police.
"The city manager and I spent some time with the chief of police and many members of our security detail (Monday)," said Mayor Cornett. "We came to the conclusion that the manner in which we have known as "Thunder Alley" has taken place and continued to grow just can't continue."
Cornett also says he hopes to create an alternative way for fans without tickets to get involved, however, no details on that have been released yet. Stay with News9.com for further updates.
