I would use the andis t-outliner to shape my mustache and beard until I chipped the blades, but that's no big deal, I can replace them or buy other clippers

My question is what do I need in terms of guards? What sizes should I go for? How many to be able to fade it nicely? :sadcam: I can't ask that question to my old barber, he'd fukk my shyt up for going rogue

I imagine I need a portable mirror for the back of the head? :sadcam:

Do I need those little blades they have for the crisp line-up? :sadcam: Or is that unecessary at first?

I know it will get worse before it gets better... But I'm ready to go through that ugly stage and fukk my shyt up the first couple of months to get a handle on it :wow:

No I mean are barber prices the reason you're going to cut your own hair?
Not really. Back when I first stop going to a barber, time and availability were the most annoying thing.

Then I decided to grow my hair long and learn how to braid it myself with different styles so I didn't need one. Covid was the nail in the barbershop's coffin for me. But prices definitely don't help in making me want to go back

Got you breh. I wish I could do my own shyt but the barber I go to is just too skilled. I couldn't do that shyt myself. Even if I could i feel like itd be too damn annoying tryna use a mirror to cut the back as well

There are a lot of really good tutorials on YouTube on this. If I find the video I watched, I’ll post it.

Start simple with a taper, just on the sides and take your time.

My barber was probably an 8.5/10. I’m probably a 8/10 now.

Been cutting my own shyt for 2 years (first b/c of Covid and then the raising prices + wait times didn’t make sense to go back to the shop)

Plus when you start getting complements from on your haircut, it’s hard to go back.

Even had a barber ask me a few weeks back who cut my hair when they noticed the blend :wow:

#SelfCutGang. I've been cutting my own hair since 2015. I hope you have thick skin breh because the learning curve is steep. I'm gon let you know right now, you gon fukk ya shyt up a lot. If you okay with that then :myman:

Believe it or not edge ups are the easiest thing for me to do. It's the fades that were tricky.

This my set up.
I got my Wahls 5star Legend series clippers for my shyt. The fade game is :wow:

And the other two I use on my sons. They are your standard wahls clippers you can find in any Barbershop.

The gold joints are the Babyliss pro trimmers. In my opinion, the best trimmers in the market. I zero gapped them too so they cut closer. These bytches is sharp too.

Last pic is my 3 piece mirror that hangs on the door. It's perfect for getting all those hard to reach angles when you you working the back. I ain't tryna stand in the mirror holding a smaller mirror tryna see the back of my shyt no more. I done came up.

This is the video I watched 2 years ago. Crazy that it’s 1.6M views now.

It’s a great beginner’s tutorial cuz dude really teaches you by explaining things in laymen terms AND isn’t tryna have you do too much.

That's the first I watched, he broke down the process perfectly. It's giving me confidence

Just have to gather the material now and try it out without doing too much
