What is muscle building? It is actually tearing your muscle so your body rebuilds it with more muscle than before in order to adapt to this new stress.

If you're not sore, what does that tell you? You're not effectively tearing the muscle enough to achieve gains.

I'm not talking the soreness of when you first started working out but you're going to have to be feeling something the next day.

Now tell me I'm lyin :comeon:

but what about someone thats been lifting for some time and the soreness goes away but they are still progressing in weight :vince:

your statement isnt valid, pain isnt the measure of a workout

DOMS only last so long

the fallacy with what you said is implying that the pain you feel at week 1 of a workout should = week 6 IE...

overtime as you aggravate an area of the body, it will develop a tolerance to the chemicals associated with signaling "pain" to your brain.

So with repeated work on the same area, you start feeling less and less pain

i figured you were trolling.

its true sometimes if u been workin out for a long time the soreness wont last long or wont even happen the next day but you will still be tearing muscle and making gains.. just your body gets used to it.

i used to squat and not be able to walk for 4 days after, that was brutal times.

Bruh... I would say everyone here has made gains w/o pain

In fact, people are surprised when they get any kind of pain... its either indicative of an injury, or the result of some change in a routine. But once the body gets used to that change the pain goes away.

This "train for pain" ideology is an express ticket to snap city

These gentlemen already got to it. DOMS and PWO pain are not ideal. It is good to push yourself, in fact thats the goal regardless of your training routine, but science and bodybuilding tradition have emphasized the importance of deloads and lighter training sessions. If you push your max in anything all the time to the point of pwo soreness, your CNS and elements of your endocrine system won't be able to compensate with the kind of progress you want. In fact i'd say you're more likely to get hurt or dissuaded from training if you do that. I see dudes who push their shyt in the gym hard as they can couple times a week and they HAVE to take time off. And they might not even be lazy. Its just the way a depleted nervous system feels. Rest+ consistency.... :wow:. Unless you're a pro athelete on PEDS. then feel free to go HAM.
