I'm torn on this, obviously Bachar is currently weak so this is the right moment to pounce on his dictatorial regime. I watched several docs on Aleppo and its civilians went through hell only because they dared oppose him during the Arab Spring

On the other hand, I'm not gonna act like the current rebellion isn't filled with jihadists and Isis affiliates :francis:

Rebels from northwestern Syria are led by Hayʼat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) who have been fighting with Al-Qaeda linked militants in Idlib

HTS has moderated a bit... they've been letting Druze and Christians re-establish themselves in Idlib province to the irritation of the more extreme groups

ISIS is far away in the eastern and central pockets of Syria near Iraq/Jordan. The Syrian Army fighting HTS/SNA may open things up for them.

The Kurds (SDF/YPG) are fortifying their positions in Aleppo.

Didn't somethig similar happen last time ? Like Rebels were fighting Assad in Aleppo and Isis filled the void at some point ?
