Season 3: Episode 2

So, with knowing that the second episode was going to feature numerous costume changes, I expected there to be some kind of flashbacks. Although it was mentioned last week that Olivia never moved back home after her mother's passing, I was glad that more reasoning behind Olivia and her father's current relationship was revealed.

I thought this week's episode kind of started off a bit slow, but I enjoyed knowing more of the backstory pertaining to Olivia and Huck's relationship, which had been touched upon last season. Also her relationship with Edison was given another layer. While she had feelings for him, from her saying 'yes' to his proposal and what we had seen of their relationship from past episodes, it was clearly a relationship that she viewed as a convenience aided by spite.

Speaking of Rowan, what the hell kind of demon switch?

When he told Olvia that she didn't know him like that and didn't want to I was like, damn! It wasn't totally surprising considering his actions towards her but still...

Fitz 'helping' Olivia out with the Jake situation was meh. While some may view it as 'love' I think guilt plays a heavy hand in the matter as well. Lest we forget that it was he who leaked her name in the first place.

Oh Jeanine...*sigh* It's kind of hard to feel a hundred percent bad about how things went for her. Abby had a point when she said, that she got what she wanted. Olivia gave her a helluva pep talk but would it have worked when she had already contacted her ex co-worker and had him destroy the evidence that would have cleared her name? I'm gonna say no.

Jake is back?

It was inevitable.

The big story in this episode for me was the breakup of Olivia and Huck's relationship. I know people have a fascination with Team Fitz or Team Jake, but I'm Team Huck. No not in a romantic kind of way just overall. I think that Huck could very well be Olivia's soul mate and yes, I am clearly someone who believes that a soul mate can be someone who you just have a platonic relationship with.

When he confronted her in the parking garage:

Olivia clearly protected Huck out of love and hopefully he will eventually see that. I think Huck is the one who she can depend upon the most. Sure, Harrison has his moments but as it was established during Huck's '752' episode, the bond that he and Olivia has goes so much deeper than him just being one of her gladiators.

This episode was clearly written to tie up a few loose ends regarding some of Olivia's relationships. I thought it was clever to write in that extra tidbit of where she developed her love of wine. Overall, I did enjoy the episode but considering that Olivia is the main character and the majority of the viewing audience likes her, I did not feel that this episode showed her in a 'good' light.

Obviously, she is not a superhero and the main scandal that she is in humanizes her yet I am interested in seeing just how far they will go in showcasing Olivia's not so attractive traits.
