alright Coli posters. Another year, another Hip Hop Grammy's thread from your homie Ziggiy.

In the past, I have slammed the Grammy's Ceremony for what I have felt is their unfair, uninformed, and ungenuine portrayal of the Genre. In a world where Eminem, Caclemore, and Drake have won more Grammys than Nas, Snoop Dogg, and 2Pac as representatives of the best that the genre has to offer, then something's WRONG. Of course, we all understand that the Grammy's are basically a popularity contest, and that as fans of Hip Hop, we now expect the fly by night artists, the ones who the academy feel the most comfortable promoting (the ones with white skin I.e. Eminem) or the ones they Simply CANNOT ignore (Kanye West) to be given trophies.
So if we ALL know this, any make the thread? I bytched a FIT in 2013 when Nas was shut out for his fantastic Life Is Good Album. I also, rather vocally, lamented Kendrick Lamar being the victim of highway robbery in 2014 by the Great White Hope's Caclemore and Ryan Cacless. The latter was such a pure moment of disgust for me that I didn't even bother to watch last year's ceremony. I'm sure @Abogado, whom I have had many a debate with in the past regarding this very subject, is looking at this post like :martin:. But fukk it, this year the most nominated artist is indeed a Hip Hop artist, who is is also up for Album Of The Year and Song Of The Year. Also, many OTHER deserving Hip Hop artists including J.Cole, Common, And Dr. Dre are up for awards that night. So without further ado we have our Hip Hop nominations

The Grammys don't matter because no one knows what the Grammys are rating. Until that happens it's entirely pointless. I could make a credible argument for why every single artist nominated for a Grammy should win over the others. That is not a good thing. I don't know why anyone cares about this thing.

Has winning more Grammys than Drake made Kendrick more popular or Cole less popular? It's all about politics man. The Grammys are vanity awards until we establish standards. The only thing it signifies is that people have made it. Made me proud when I saw my man from way back credits for producing on Grammy nominated tracks. Other than that? shyt is awful.

K.Dot says he "wants to win ALL of them":salute:

Lamar is an amiable guy with a quick smile, but he’s at his most effusive onstage and in the recording booth. Out of the spotlight, in the company of strangers, he can be diffident; glad-handing isn’t his thing. But surreal times call for extreme measures, which is why Lamar devoted several weeks on either side of the new year to an industry charm offensive. He taped a concert for the venerable PBS live-music broadcast Austin City Limits and made the rounds to NPR, The New York Times and other press outlets. In short, Lamar has undertaken an old-fashioned Grammy lobbying campaign. He makes no bones about his desire to run the table at the awards. “I want to win them all,” he says.

Billboard throwing support behind K.Dot

Jody Rosen Is this Kendrick Lamar's year? The stars seem to be aligned for Lamar, who has a near-record 11 nominations. To Pimp a Butterfly was the year's most acclaimed album. It's contemporary, but its mix of vintage sources nods in the direction of the "real music" hallowed by the core Grammys voting bloc. A vote for Lamar will also redress the awards' historical neglect of hip-hop and make up for his snubbing at the 2014 Grammys. Lamar has spent several weeks on an old-fashioned Grammy lobbying campaign. He even released a video of his pilgrimage to the White House, where he met with President Barack Obama in connection with an inner-city youth-mentoring initiative. And in this year of Black Lives Matter protests, Lamar's anthems of black pain and transcendence caught the spirit of the times. In 2016, what self-respecting Grammy voter would cast a ballot for Keebler Elf Ed Sheeran or even Her Royal Highness Taylor Swift over K-Dot

TPAB is Grammy music he is my favorite to win AOTY.

Diverse musical influence/mixture of live and electronic instruments/deep lyrical subject matter etc.

It fits into the pop music canon as a masterpiece by their parameters. Or at least the Grammy parameters I perceive heh.
