We should be ashamed of ourselves for not having an official thread on Godfrey.
He's got the funniest podcast going for me.
I will try and post what I deem to be the top 3 or top 5 In Godfrey We Trust Podcast episodes, considering he has over a hundred, for those unfamiliar with his podcast.
The dynamic is really nuanced and intricate.
At the start of his podcast he had some goofy white girl as cohost, when he was still figuring things out. Those episodes for the most part are terrible.
The show found its voice when he made the young comic Andre Kim (Korean) his right hand dude, the dynamic of the show is Godfrey tries to be funny on every topic, Andre tries to chime in and bombs, and they attack him, the 2 producers, Alex (white bytch) and Bobby (fat cac) are also part of the shows dynamic, Bobby finds clips very fast and overall the production value of the show is 10/10.
Godrey is one of the funniest human beings I've ever discovered. The show is natural fit for him.
Only issue is Godfrey is a Militant integrationist... A Militant integrationist is a black person who spews pro black/Militant rhetoric on the surface level, they call out racism all the time and pretty much sound like Malcom X reincarnation....
But as you dig deeper you realize that their entire gripe and anger is centered around whites accepting us as equals ...they want to assimilate and integrate into the power system that white people have already built up, even though they have some money and clout, they will not buy any property, businesses in majority black countries or Africa, they will not make their own smaller networks like Bill Burr (All Things Comedy), Louis J Gomez (Gas Digital Network) and many other comics do.
But they are forever complaining about NOT being given a lick by Saturday Night Live or Netflix or any other white owned media platform...
This goes to police brutality, employment and any other systematic racism issue. A Militant integrationist just want white people to stop treating us like 3rs class animals and live in a post racial society (Martin Luther King is the greatest example of a righteous and brave Militant Intergrationailist.
Godfrey falls into this category. All his complaints about racism have no solutions, he's forever trying to prove to white people that black people are indeed useful by bringing up random black inventors "The stop light was invented by this black man" "Hockey was invented by black people "... White people know ALL of that and don't give a fukk, they still racist and won't change their anti blackness (same goes for Asians, Arabs, Indians etc)
Outside of his constant appeals are white acceptance the show is hilarious.
My favorite comic of All time, Patrice O'Neal was a Militant Intergrationailist, staunchly anti African to the core. So this is not discrediting, just recognizing where someone stands idealistically
