So I don’t watch wrestling anymore but I love this series. Not to get too deep. If you ever see those documentary series that claim to talk about the founders of America or the people that made America great and then they feature business owners and inventors like these amazing heroes. It’s propaganda to make it seem living in America this amazing place to be.

This series is the counter of that and shows how the heroes of our youth were just people struggling and dealing with shyt and fukking up and how either over coming all that or being destroyed by it defined them. When the money is good, it’s all good but then when the money is gone you got to deal with that shyt. That is what America is all about and then you die..... just like everywhere else.

Sam Houston was the most interesting part about it to me. All the kids except Jake seemed to still have a level of esteem for Grizzly Smith even Robin not wanting his abuse of her to tarnish his legacy. Babydoll said that if Grizzley was alive he would've convinced Sam that the rapes were Robin's fault and the energy he gives leads me to believe she is right.

Dude, a lot of dudes "liked them young" back then.

It wasn't a big deal if a guy liked teenage girls like 16-17 years old.

A lot of the rock stars, movies stars, singers, athletes, etc. . .were dating high-school age girls.

These episodes being one hour is a huge disservice to the material. Not that I’d even want to see another hour of this shyt, but I feel like there are plenty more fukked up things they haven’t touched on...

Yeah Vice fukked them by ordering more episodes and not giving them more run time as needed. Every fourth episode should be a 2 parter.

The episode run-time thing is tricky. Some episodes would high key benefit from being given more time (hell, maybe even additional episodes altogether.). However, I'm not trying to see 2 hours of Nick Cage fukkery; I definitely want no parts of prolonged Grizzly degeneracy either.

I have no clue how these shows are contracted and negotiated, but it might be dope to set a fixed number per season of two hour viewings. Also, longer episodes are gonna provide more to bit...critique. That's not a bad thing necessarily, but we know how neck beards can get.

i never said his popularity was peak-levels.

and its no coincidence that when he left, the ratings that he boosted were instantly gone. but of course, nobody is gonna acknowledge that chit.

hell, look at when he went to WCW years later. you know how many WWF marks were tuned into nitro?? how many raw cats were discussing nitro on the forums and at school for like the first time ever?? and it only lasted while he was there. these WWF marks didnt pop up for bret hart coming off of the overhyped montreal screwjob, or none of that chit. if thats not a draw or an impact player, then i dont know what is.

but let revisionists tell it, he was a flop and couldnt adapt. nevermind the fact that tons of other old acts were still getting money.

Watched the Warrior episode and it wasn't anything groundbreaking. I was expecting to hear stories about drug overdoses, domestic violence, steroids, etc but instead it's basically showcasing how much of a egomaniac he was. They barely even touched on his right wing antics later in life.

Lowkey someone should merge the footage from both Dark Side and A&E Autobiographies and put it up on YouTube.

The A&E joint was good as is, but some of the Dark Side stuff (particularly with us hearing from the OG wife) would make for a fine addition or supplement
