this Nick Gage episode wasn't that bad to me but they dumb as hell for following up the season premiere with this :gucci:

the Pillman two-parter was great and this what they bring next :gucci: shoulda saved this joint for later in the season

anyway as far as the episode i never knew shyt about this dude myself so this was all new info for me and it's beyond crazy how he was literally bleeding to death but still tryna finish the match, talk about working yourself into a shoot :wtf:

they made his bro look like garbage in this, how you dislocate your own brother's shoulder in the ring, don't visit him in the 4 years he's locked up and when you yourself decide to do dirt you kill yourself when the cops corner you :mjtf:

the David Arquette part was :mjlol: dude was outchea doing the most for absolutely no reason whatsoever, took that fool out for an expensive ass steak dinner just so he can almost kill him in the ring the next day

overall the episode was alright :manny: not a must watch but i didn't feel like i wasted my time peeping it

I actually get that Arquette wanted to prove himself and a death match felt like an opportunity really to do that, albeit in an over the top way

that said Nick Gage of all people, an addict, dude has nothing to live for and is legit open to harming himself and his opponents in there... bad move. Prob the worst guy Arquette could have chosen

It’s a lot of death match wrestlers that would have loved the opportunity and respected Arquette and done the match safely... Matt Tremont for example

Nick Gage not so much. And Arquette paid the price

Almost on a completely different tangent, I started thinking while watching the episode last night how violent and blood soaked the early to mid 00’s entertainment was. WWE was having matches more violent and bloody than they were in the Attitude Era, promotions like XPW and CZW were taking what ECW did and turning the violence up to an even higher degree. Movies like Saw and Hostel saw great success and birthed the whole “torture porn” genre of horror films, GTA and the like were beginning to really reach new levels of success and pushing the envelope in gaming. It was really the only era a company like CZW could thrive in and was the only time someone like Nick Gage could carve out a career in a wrestling genre that’s otherwise pretty niche.

Bro, if y’all hated the Gage episode, y’all about to be SQUIRMING over the FMW episode.

I don't know. FMW has a nostalgic spot with me because I was amazed at watching Hayabusa when I was a kid. It was absolutely garbage wrestling though, but it was better than the shyt Nick Gage was doing.

The mythos of FMW has always intrigued me and even then I’d gladly take over the top Japanese deathmatch fuccery over the indy mudshow bullshyt that was mostly CZW, IWA-MS and the like :yeshrug:

It’s a weird thing. CZW and the like were doing what felt like over the top torture porn in a wrestling format... but I recall the violence more vividly and being more :picard: worthy from FMW.

Maybe it’s because as other brehs have said, the gore factor felt cartoonish from some of these other promotions that came in the wake of ECW. But it felt more.. idk, hard hitting and scary in FWM, if that makes sense?
