Im surprised WWE lets them use their footage, their usually strict about it

also we need a episode about New Jack

:demonic:

they likely didn't need WWE's approval to use clips that were aired on public networks in the way that they are using them thanks to the FAIR USE Act.

notice how they are not showing very long clips at a time and they are shown in a research type of way. kind of like when you turn on the news and they'll show a 5-10 second clip of a Hollywood movie, sporting event, etc. something that is clearly copyrighted, but the news is allowed to report on it in a fair use type of way without needing permission.

if the Dark Side of the Ring / Vice had promoted the Montreal Screwjob episode as "tune in to see the entire match from WWE's Survivor Series 1997!" for example, then it would be a different story:pachaha:

But was he wrong?

absolutley:dahell:

So hes worried that Bischoff announces Bret to WCW as if it wasnt already in the news and in mainstream press like TSN days leading up

Again they were lawsuits the last time HE tried to put another promotion's belt on TV and tried the same when Medusa did it, on top of that Bret's contract had a few weeks left on it he could have had dude drop it at any raw or In your House in December

Dude did it for the controversy:pachaha:

Just saw the Bret/Screwjob episode.

Really well produced show, but nothing I haven;t heard/read 100 times by now.

Which probably says more about me, really.

The Wrestling With Shadows crew got so, so lucky with what they got that night during the screwjob. Everything just fell into place. :wow: A lot of this I already knew, but I hadn't really got Earl's perspective on the whole matter. If you think about it - that's a tough spot to be in. Do you follow the wishes of one of your best friends or do you follow the wishes of your boss and the person who pays you? Earl went with his boss.....

:mjlol:
....and then got fired in 2005 for illegally selling WWE merchandise.

If Earl and Bret genuinely were worried about a screwjob prior, I always thought a good system for them to use would've been some kind of code word that Earl can drop on Bret in the ring inconspicuously. Then Bret can avoid it and Earl would still look innocent.

The wcw sign bret made was always the giveaway to me.

In any OTHER situation vince dont allow that. He woulda fired anyone in the truck who chose to film that.

Thatand bret said he was wary of submissions but let shawn do his own move to him and didnt even start to break out when vince was walking down the aisle.

Work

The average fan back then had no idea that Bret was going to WCW. It ain't like now where backstage news was posted all over the place. It might've been on TSN but in the states wrestling news was not getting coverage like that.

WWE commentary that night acknowledged it
