National media gonna talk about our secondary. It is greatly improved. Just some idiotic mistakes were made.

Davis lost his cool. Lost contain 3 times in the 2nd half and it allowed Walker to get those big gains.

The entire defense was too emotionally wired yesterday.

Arnold is my only concern. Boy does he need this bye week for a mental break. He will cost us in the playoffs with these penalties

Agreed on the first point, it looks significantly better. And it's allowing Kerby Joseph to just worry about deep safety instead of having to constantly try to come down hard and bail out a CB (resulting in a big gain when he's out of position). I thought Davis did as well as he could but it was simply another example that offense gets to do whatever. DK was straight up tackling dudes out there yet the only OPI was a somewhat questionable flag on Lockett. "Questionable" compared to all the ones that simply were not called.

Branch not being out there really hurt the run defense. All those big Walker runs were outside, he couldn't get shyt inside. Another thing...this team clearly missed Davenport and Barnes on contain, and I'm not sure what the solution will be. Granted I think the defense was exhausted by that point so I can't definitely say outside runs will be a problem until those guys return. We shut outside runs down multiple times in the first half, mainly via Anzalone/Davis/Campbell.

I'm still not concerned about Arnold, he'll figure it out. Everything else looks good for him. I saw multiple CBs on both sides getting grabby without getting calls, but he gets it every time he grabs.

I've been looking up Braden Fiske shyt since I liked him so much in the draft (and hoped he would fall to us). And since week one, each time I look up how Fiske is doing I see Mekhi Wingo mentioned in terms of high interior pressure rates. He hasn't landed a sack yet but in nearly every game he's had good plays that suggest he could be really good in the future.

I think the interior d-line is really good. Alim, Levi, and Reader are balling. This team just needs a talent injection alongside Hutch outside at the edge. Paschal played well on Monday and made multiple plays but I would hope Brad Holmes saw how good that line looked with Davenport and is decided to finding someone with that body type/skill set. If not in a trade than in the draft or free agency.

I've noticed this too. Wingo definitely pops when he's on the field.

Take the wins however you can get them but last Monday against the Hawks isn't looking that impressive now. Giants and Danny Pesos are marching up and down the field on them, plus, their defense has completely shut down Geno and the offense in Seattle.

Cardinals are about to beat the 49ers. Does that make the Lions beating them look better? Of course not. I never liked that argument. Seattle is a good team, Arizona is an average team. Sometimes a team just has a better game plan. Niners couldn't stop Murray from torching them on the ground btw, a problem the Lions didn't have.

I do find it curious that every team the Lions has beaten has gotten blown out the following week. Probably just statistical noise but if anything...the Lions are physical as fukk. Is it just that the Lions are beating teams up to the point they get dominated the following week? Or do they simply put out a clean blueprint of how to exploit teams. Giants defense is reminding me of us last week minus the penalties that kept Seattle in the game.

These are all fair points. I did not like the defensive performance. Three straight years of Geno looking like prime Peyton should not happen. That's with different OCs and coaching staffs too.

Santa Clara might not be that good without CMac.

I'll add, I think most of the league is average as fukk with very little difference between teams. I do feel Detroit is one of the three most talented rosters in the league, so I have high expectations for their performance week in and out.

I still think this team is going to the Super Bowl and I'm not too worked up over the relatively slow start. I'd like to see some steady improvement and some complete games coming up though.

21/29 for 228 today, no turnovers. Geno is a good QB. Giants run defense looks like ours in the first half last week. Walker was able to break out 3-4 runs in the second half to the sides, since the middle was shut down by Reader/Levi/Alim. That's where we really missed Brian Branch. So I can't feel bad about that performance. Just like if I was a Seattle fan I wouldn't have felt bad about the defense last week either, given who they were missing. But most of those guys are back against the Giants and they were still getting clowned.

BTW if anyone is watching this game, just saw a major third down stop with a VERY handsy Seattle CB not getting called for DPI. That was getting called against the Lions last week, all game.

Most of that yardage came in the fourth when they were down two scores and NY just wanted the game to be over. Seattle's offense only scored 13 points.

One thing I will say....the NFC looks wide open now. I'm not buying Minnesota until they pop us, sorry lol. The Lions didn't have any issues against Flores' scheme last season and while it's more effective this season I just can't buy this is real. If they prove me wrong I'll admit it obviously.

Niners look bad. Seattle will be fine IMO, just need to get healthy. Green Bay looks average. Common theme with a lot of teams is health though, which gets us to Detroit. We've already taken some pretty big losses in Davenport (for the season) and Barnes (multiple games). Seems like we dodged a bullet with Ragnow. Iffy is still not ready and will miss half the season (again). Sucks for him, this was supposed to be a big contract year for him. I have a feeling it's his last season with the Lions.

Potential trades....I don't expect any big moves BUT with Cincy imploding I'd imagine Trey Hendrickson will be available at the deadline. Cincy's cheap ass owner doesn't want to pay anyone. He fits what the Lions want opposite Hutch plus he played for the Saints when Campbell and Glenn were coaching there.

Hendrickson is on a great contract. That is definitely a guy Holmes should go after if he's available. Like you said, it's wide open this season. Go all-in and win this Super Bowl.

Robert Selah got fired. Remember when he passed on our gig. That was the best thing to happen to this franchise but it didn’t feel that way at the time :whew:

I do think he’s a great coordinator. If Glenn gets a job, I’d love to have him as a replacement.
