The thread quickly devolved into "why did you spend your savings/rent money on a stupid cat" chastising me for not having pet insurance. Just the idea that we care about our cat first and didint want her to die of toxicity due to accidently swallowing medication that was on my girls dresser seemed like an affront to somehow being an irresponsible idiot.
then of course, the topic devolved into the fact that my partner is transgender, which lead to a ton of misgendering along with people just being general a$$holes. More or less, the sheer amount of angry, edge lord, "i have everything in my life together while being an alpha male and 10 savings accounts and a hedge fund" bullshyt in that forum in response to the fact that saving our pet ran us 2500 which set us back for rent and utilities.
I (cole james cash) have only done a gofundme once ever and it was when i got shot twice. We have a mortgage, my wife is a federal economist and the shut down is absolutely gonna kill us. I do applied behavioral therapy but when that shut down happens, we are absolutely going to in a desperate position even with my income being decent.
that place genuinely is fukking sad.
