"Let's see...the white middle class is overwhelmingly rooting for the Thunder, but Florida is a huge important swing state, so I can't come out against the Heat." What a coward.
Obama: No prediction on NBA championship
Obama: No prediction on NBA championship
Here's one issue President Obama isn't taking a position on.
The NBA championship series.
Obama declined to make a prediction on the upcoming seven-game series between the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Game one is tonight in Oklahoma City.
"You know, both teams look terrific and I am looking forward to a good series," Obama told KTVN-TV of Reno.
"Hopefully it will go to seven games," the president added. "But I can't make a prediction right now, they both look pretty tough."
Obama -- a huge basketball fan, as we noted earlier this week -- is no doubt still reeling from the early playoff exit of his Chicago Bulls (who suffered an injury to their star player, Derrick Rose).
On the other hand, Obama has expressed admiration for the Heat and Thunder and their star players, including LeBron James and Dwyane Wade of the Heat, and Kevin Durant of the Thunder.
It's notable that Obama passed up the chance to play a little sports politics.
Florida is much more of a swing state than Oklahoma, which leans Republican.
