The Commander in Chief has revealed that he and one of his daughters have bonded over hip-hop music
President Obama isn’t the only member of the First Family who is a fan of Jay-Z and Nas. His teenage daughter Malia also shares his hip-hop tastes, which makes for some blush-worthy moments in the White House.

While Malia may also like to listen to Jay-Z and Nas, President Obama refuses to listen to some of the R-rated (sometimes X-rated) lyrics with his daughter.

“We actually share tastes in hip-hop and rap music but we don’t listen to it together, because some of the language in there would embarrass me — at least while I’m listening to it with her,” he told Glamour. ”Folks like Jay-Z, Nas, we both like them, but when it comes on and I’m sitting with her and Sasha, then I fast-forward because it would make me blush.”
Aside from rap music the president said Malia listens to a wide variety of music.

“You know, we actually don’t constrain what she listens to,” he said. ”We expect her to show some good judgment. She listens to my iPod and has gotten hip to stuff that was made well before she was born like Motown, jazz, classic rock.”

While Obama has been paying more attention to more hip-hop, rappers have also been tuning into the election. Jay-Z hosted the $40,000 per plate fundraiser for Obama. And Nas recently dropped a PSA urging young people to vote

President Obama’s adoration of old school R&B has been well documented, but he gave some love yesterday to some black music on the more contemporary side—namely, Jay-Z, Beyonce and Nas.
During a radio interview with KOB-FM in New Mexico, Obama picked out Beyonce’s upbeat smash “Crazy in Love” as a particular favorite of his.
“If I’m really trying to get my heart rate up, ‘Crazy in Love’ is a pretty good song to work out to,” he said, when asked what was his favorite song to work out to.
“I’ve got a lot of old school R&B: you know, Steve Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye,” the president said. “But I’ve always got a bunch of contemporary stuff: Jay-Z, Beyonce, Nas. You name it, I’ve got it.”
