"It (Kinect) must be plugged in for the Xbox One to operate, though the entire system (Xbox One?) can be turned off to alleviate concerns that it might spy on people."

Ya. That's a little weird. I bet it checks if it's still there to discourage people from just tossing the shyt in the trash or forgetting where they put it.

They want to encourage devs to use the Kinect when they develop shyt. So that's the reason behind needing to have it plugged in. Devs can use it in controller based games for smaller things without a "Kinect" required tag.

Stupid. Annoying. I know.

So even though you can turn it off you have to keep that subwoofer on top of your system? Im not realyl feeling that design concept friends.

Microsoft has submitted a patent that could see the company track every TV show and advert watched via its Xbox One console and other devices.

The application called 'Awards and Achievements Across TV Ecosystem' was submitted to the US Patent and Trademark office earlier this month.

It details plans for Microsoft to reward viewers for watching adverts, TV shows or series, with virtual scores, or physical awards such as coupons and products - although it is expected the plans will be opt-in, and not turned on by default.

You know you're involved in a PR nightmare when you literally have to tell consumers that you're not going to spy on them.

No you can't turn it off friend:skip:

They are saying that if you want the Kinect to turn off, the whole system needs to relocate to the bushes.

They won't even try to convince people it's not spying and recording you:pacspit:
