New York City – The NYPD News tweeted earlier today that they wanted people to share their photos of themselves with NYPD. They asked people to use the hashtag #myNYPD. They hoped to have a lot of smiling faces showing the nice side of the NYPD. However, it did not take long before the feed filled up with images and videos of police brutality.

One of Luke Rudkowsi’s tweets showed a NYPD officer beating him with a baton.

Others posted pictures of the elderly man who was beat for jaywalking and other recent police brutality images.

Copwatch reminded us of the innocent people shot outside the Empire State building.

Complex Magazine shows us how the NYPD handles someone being detained.

Aside from the complete failure of the marketing campaign, the most surprising thing may be the sheer number of images and videos of NYPD police brutality there are.

Another case of not thinking ahead and simply going through with dumbness.

Everywhere I've lived or ever been police have been pretty chill. It seems like American police are the worst (whether they're portrayed that way or truly are so I cannot comment on), abusing power and taking prejudiced actions. :manny:

given where democracy and capitalism are heading in America, the police do not want a good guy reputation, that luxury is only left for elected officials. The underlings (police etc) will need to be known as straight gangster/enforcer/goons to maintain the hustle as long as possible.

smh that is not the fukkin way to do things. isn't the motto 'to protect and serve'? it sounds more like 'to coerce and enslave;.
At the risk of getting flamed or negged i'm gonna go ahead and say that guns need be removed from the population. I know gun culture is so prevalent and embedded it seems retarded, and people are gonna say guns aren't the problem, but if you think about it from the outside in, it really looks like it is.
secondly, it appears racial segregation is still too much of an issue. Obviously things have improved since the last century, but I'm still seeing and hearing too much about racial fears and prejudice. Look at how Europe treats black people and you'll see how far ahead they are regarding above issues.
Maybe these issues are debated too often in the US but from where I'm sitting shyt looks ridiculous.

are we even supposed to like police? being tasked with making the general public obedient doesnt really seem conducive to a friendly relationship

its kind of sad, actually
