I know it isn't shyt compared to the 80s and 90s, but the last couple weeks it seems like there has been a lot more violence than usual. Lots of teen stabbings, and a night club just got shot up. It seemed like this year has been going pretty well for the city as far as violence goes, even without stop and frisk. But something doesn't seem right, this recent uptick in violence seems to be inconsistent with the fact that it's getting colder now.

My mother in law is worried now and wants to move out, and I don't know if I should just tell her that this is nothing to be worried about and it's just the media blowing things out of proportion, or is it a genuine concern? Regardless, she lives in Mott Haven and I think we should get her the hell out of there either way.

Hasn't the North been getting worse, though? I hear of plenty of shyt happening in the 200s.

That being said, I'm sure it's still a lot better than Mott Haven of all places.

towards the east side yea. gun hill and that white plains road area is pretty nasty. i mean the bronx is mostly hood anyway so theres gonna be crime regardless. but the south is the worse. just looking at rent tells u the story. when i was looking for an apartment, i found a 3 bedroom in mott haven for like 1095.

in my area i found a 1 bedroom for 1195. got white people in the building too :pachaha:

shyt, if I actually did live down there I'd have no choice but to live in the hood.

And yeah, I figured there would be crime in everywhere in such a densely populated place, but as long as my mother law doesn't have to worry as much about getting robbed in broad daylight again, I think it would be an improvement.

its mott haven. nothing good ever happens in mott haven
It's not just Mott Haven, shyt seems to be happening everywhere.
Mott haven might be the worst neighborhood in the entire city
Either Mott Haven or Brownsville.

Question for anyone here familiar with NYCHA, do you get any choice as to where you're put? I notice there are projects in the nice parts of Manhattan too, but I'm sure they're in high demand.
