Notorious B.I.G. and Wu-Tang Clan to Be Honored With Street Names in NYC

big

The Notorious B.I.G., Woody Guthrie, and the Wu-Tang Clan will be honored with street names following a unanimous New York City Council vote.

"It took a long time and lots of hard work to advance the Christopher Wallace Way and Wu-Tang Clan District street co-naming, but ya know what, Hip Hop Don't Stop," LeRoy McCarthy, who helped lead the charge for the renaming tributes, toldGothamist Monday.

The Wu-Tang Clan District includes Staten Island's Vanderbilt Avenue and Targee Street. Christopher Wallace Way, meanwhile, is located on St. James Place between Fulton and Gates, i.e. the Brooklyn block where the late hip-hop icon spent his early years. Woody Guthrie Way is located between West 35th and West 36th at Coney Island's Mermaid Avenue.

The unanimous 68 to nothing council vote now heads to Mayor Bill de Blasio's office for a signature.

Wu-Tang Clan recently marked 25 years of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) with an NPR Tiny Desk set and the new documentary For the Children.
