Fired Republican Daily Show Guest Don Yelton Still Talking, Still Racist
Following his
star turn on The Daily Show, which all but guaranteed him as a first-ballot shoe-in for the Modern Bigot Hall of Fame, North Carolina GOP executive committee member Don Yelton — who was fired for his comments yesterday — has
no regrets. "I'll resign my position as precinct chair gladly," he said on the
radio. "I'll give it up — the heck with it. I don't want to be part of a group that is that mealymouthed and that gutless."
While he
claimed The Daily Show "created an illusion that I was just personally had an agenda against the blacks, tried to make it talking about racism rather than the real issue of illegal voting," Yelton also repeated the exact same racial views. (He also said "the blacks.") "
When a n***** can use the word n***** and it not be considered racist, that's the utmost racism in the world, and it's hypocrisy,"
he told the Wrap.
"There's no political party that's going to tell me what to say as long as I have breath in my body," said Yelton. Let there be no doubt: This man means what he says and accepts the consequences of a society that's at least trying not to be terrible. "This isn't my first rodeo," he added, rounding out the backward-southern-guy stereotype.
