My son had delayed speech
I took him 2 speech therapy at 2
Turns out he could talk perfect he just didn't have nothing 2 say to nobody.

He responds better to music, we used to have to sing in a rhyming tune for him 2 engage.

My nephew, who I believe is about to be 2 in a couple of months, is still non verbal. So this hit extra close. Happy for that mom and child.
Similar time line.

Have the parents looked into early prevention / speech therapy or his ears if he had a few ear infections?

A few of my coworkers experienced similar issues with their kids as far as having to get a tube for the ears and speech therapy

Turns out one of my son’s ears had swelling from the ear infections effecting his hearing and we did the tube surgery and we have a monthly EP specialist come out. I think that as well as his brain development is helping with his language exploding.

Took some time as he is 2/ 29 months now and it wasn’t until 26 when he started expressing things verbally. One of the first things we noticed was asking him what sounds animals make and he would make the sounds. Now he is doing much more. Excited to watch live.
