I don't know the theory too well, but my go to scale is the C Meldoic Minor (Descending) and I just use all the possible chords I can make from that scale...

I also use the C Blues scale a lot...

yo, since you know your shyt, what are good ways to transition from a hook or a verse progression to a bridge and back? i always struggle with that. never sounds right to me.

you could either modulate into a different key/mode or just pick a chord in the o.g. key that isn't the tonic.

I started out with a lot of melodies around A minor. My newest beats Im staying on Major as much a possible. I do a little piano work here and there but mainly, just enough to get by with a hip hop beat. Im tryna get on that pro level little by little to be able to make my own classical sounding tracks and throw some heavy drum patterns over them. Dope thread. :salute:
