Pretty much the US government has said everyone's shyt is compromised and they aren't able to get the Chinese hackers out because they are exploiting old hardware the telecoms are using. Unless the telecoms go and replace all their hardware and equipment, the Chinese are in there indefinitely.

FBI pretty much said you're on your own and to get on end to end encrypted messaging.
