ehhh , whoever battles Nas will automatically be down 0-9 because of Illmatic... then throw in Made You Look, Verbal Intercourse, Hate Me Now, If I Ruled The World, Purple etc..
I'm a Nas stan but nah breh. Snoop would be the king in this format (well, Pac, but he's dead obviously). Jay and 50 would probably be ahead of Nasir too.

Yeah because Candy Shop, Amusement Park etc is beating Nas get real.

If these battles were judged the way the previous ones are on the actual material, and not the billboard charts, or how much it sold etc.

Then its

1. Tupac
2. Nas
3. Snoop
4. Jay Z
5. Kanye

I was thinking this too. The Deep Cover single, a couple hits off the Chronic, and a bunch of hits off Doggystyle alone is a lot of classic material
:whew:

Then you add in his No Limit Days when his career got a second wind and his appearances on Chronic 2001. All this before he even became known as Uncle Snoop
:wow:

I’m thinking the only rapper alive who can fukk with him his Jay

Rearrange it obviously, but with the right order he could definitely beat Jay. I didn't even get into his features, because if I did Still D.R.E. would be on there.

Nas is my favorite rapper, but there are a lot of other variables to consider in these battles. For one, song selection is key. Illmatic is considered one of, if not the best Hip Hop albums of all time, but it doesn't automatically mean it'll give Nas an automatic W in a hypothetical battle. Why? Things like nostalgia and the type of crowd actually participating in the live determines who wins. Prime example, many thought Teddy's Michael Jackson songs would be automatic W's in his battle against Babyface, but people were dismissive of "In The Closet" despite it being one of Michael Jackson's better songs, if not one of his best.

"Purple" is one of my all time favorite songs, but putting that song up against another heavyweight in a hypothetical battle could get icky. Why? Let's say that record is played in a hypothetical battle with Pac and the response song is "So Many Tears" or "I Ain't Mad At Cha". Not saying Nas would get washed or that he wouldn't win rounds. These things are less about the depth of the catalog and more about picking songs that placate to a wide audience. They aren't necessarily hits, but songs with a big enough reach that both sides of the battle would know.
