while i agree that each state should have its own right to allow sports gambling within its borders, going about it like this that shyt will be shut down the INSTANT someone opens up shop in jersey. no one is going to invest in getting a sportsbook up and running in jersey, knowing the feds will shut your entire operation down as soon as you get it going

no one is until a law is in place. if a atlantic city casino put a book in and took bets without an amendment of the law, the feds would shut its entire operation down that day. a nevada casino would love to branch out, and some already have the money set aside to do so when the law allows, but doing so without a law in place would cost them their nevada gaming license most likely

it cant hurt, it could only help. it creates jobs, creates pretty substantial revenue for the state without raising taxes etc. im probably being conservative in saying theres probably 400 billion dollars wagered each year in the states on sports. if you just tax 0.5% on that number, if every state legalized it thats 40 million dollars extra per state, every year.
