The ps2 was outselling the ps3 for years and Sony almost went bankrupt because of it. MGS4 is what saved Sony. Moved enough systems to get investors off their back. But they had to maintain an image and so to keep investors from panicking they did something that was never done before. They combined sales of ps2 and ps3 and counted it as PS3 sales. Why?

So they could claim they outsold the Xbox 360. Sounds far fetched but since we all lived thru it and it was discussed heavily on this very website. Most of us know I'm not lying even tho it's not the mainstream narrative
