MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
The Montgomery Police Department is investigating after written threats were found in a restroom at Lee High School.
According to Montgomery Public Schools, the district and school administration were made aware of the threats Friday.
The threats suggested an act of violence was being planned for Nov. 18. Extra security is in place while the investigation into the threats is underway, according to the school district.
"Making terrorist threats is a serious crime that can result in severe prison sentences, fines and/or restitution," district officials said in a news release. "Once the person(s) responsible for these threats is identified, every effort will be made to prosecute those involved to the fullest extent of the law."
"Safety to our students and our teachers are most important to us. I'm very happy that the Montgomery Police Department is working with the school," said School Board Member W. Durden Dean.
Maybe they don't like the name Robert E. Lee high but forreal though
