Passing and Receiving stats are meaningless. Rookie QB's can come in and put up pro bowl stats without blinking now a days. Cam Newton and Andy Dalton didn't even have a proper off season as rookies and still put up decent numbers. Marino passed for 5000 yards in 1984 and it was considered a god like feet. Drew Brees has passed for over 5k 3 times...
NFL Rules changes have skewed passing to epic proportions and now that they stopped defenders from making QB's pay for leading their WR's into no mans land over the middle, its only getting worse.
Why do you think a coach like Chip Kelly decided to come to the NFL. That spread option bullshyt wouldn't have worked 10 years ago, but since defenders have to think more and they can't hit like they use to and QB's are damn near flag football status, you can run that bullshyt now.
Next year we will probably see the first 2000 yard WR. And the funny thing is that Scoring is about the same as its always been. It's in between the 20's that allows QB's and WR's to put up video game like numbers.
