maybe it's a local phenomena, but i doubt it. i was at the grocery store this evening, buying a few things before heading home. waiting in line, i noticed that almost all of the cashiers and those bagging groceries were so-called minorities, a mix of black and hispanic. and almost all of the people in line were white. i don't know why, but it bothered me. it almost looked like the blacks and hispanics were servants to the whites, and the scene stood out as a microcosmic display of the the broader class and racial stratification in our society. it angered me. but, again, perhaps it was something limited to this particular store. maybe i'll go to another grocery store and see a bunch of whites tending to black and hispanic customers.

It's usually the other way around for me..I get mad when I see mostly white people working at trader joes or whole foods in Oakland, knowing that the majority is black in Oakland..

trader joes and whole foods are a little different. i see the same thing at my local whole foods. mostly white people working. i feel you, because i'm sure they discriminate against any black applicants trying to work when customers are there. i bet the only blacks my local one has are those who come and stock shyt during the night shift.

In NYC, it's common to see Black nannies (usually young to middle aged) carrying White babies or in strollers on the streets. shyt is crazy cause it's TONS of them and it's like the most overt signifier of class/race you could find in the city.

yeah, whenever i run into a black nanny, i can't help but feel disgust. part of me wants to pull the poor girl aside and ask her why she's stooping to such a disgraceful low. you'll never see a white female being a nanny to a black family.

There only 8,000 more blacks than whites in Oakland idiot. That is not even a lot more to really be considered a majority. Got damn you can't be this silly. The metro area is majority white, which mean a lot of those whites also work in Oakland.
