Newsgroup useage

So Ive been hearing so many good things about these that I got an account from giganews. Alot of the games I try to download have a virus when I scan them before I open them. Same with some programs. Also a lot of the tv shows or movies I try to download usually have 2 language tracks, with the native one being not english.

Am I using it wrong? Throw some tips out here. I'm using the Mimo broswer that comes with the service.
