he remains of a newborn baby allegedly dumped alive by her mom in an East York clothing donation bin have been found in a tractor-trailer in Cambridge.
Toronto Police say they received information May 30 from executives at Oasis Clothing Bank and searched a tractor-trailer at the companys storage facility.
The body of an infant girl was recovered by police, Const. Tony Vella said Tuesday.
He said its believed she is the baby girl homicide detectives have been looking for since May 23.
Staff at North York General Hospital reported to police at that time they had treated a woman who had recently given birth and the whereabouts of her baby was unknown.
Its alleged the child was alive when she was dropped into a clothing donation box near OConnor Dr. and Bermundsey Rd.
An autopsy was conducted on the remains Friday to determine the identity of the baby, but police have not released any findings.
Family members have been informed of the recovery of the victim, Vella said.
The newborn is the citys 24th murder victim of the year.
Angelica Spanidis, is charged with first-degree murder. The 25-year-old woman remains in custody awaiting her next court appearance.
