I'm cool with it as long as it includes Hannity, Limbaugh, Levin, Weiner Savage, etc.

Breitbart already got :bustback: and clapped quick. :dead:

I think there are two competing notions on this that stem from the comments section:

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of this article depicting how Obama "evolved" from liberal Bush critic to über-hawk cowboy is POTUS's apparent self-deception and delusions of grandeur. He is guided by Aquinas and moral philosophers? Give me a break.

But I suppose I too would develop delusions of grandeur and pretentious philosophical musing tics if I were surrounded by sycophants and Yale law-school flunkies like Harold Koh who assure us that presidential assassination lists and new-math counting methods for civilian dead are nothing to worry about because the consiglieri is “a person of genuine moral rectitude."

Can Insider Koh, heretofore a human rights champion and vociferous critic of the despicable (and they WERE despicable) tactics of Bush-Cheney, really say with a straight face, “It’s as though you had a priest with extremely strong moral values who was suddenly charged with leading a war"?

If this hideous expansion of executive force weren't so macabre and so destructive of the rule of law, it would be hilarious.

So much for the "Barry the Shrinking Violet" story line used by his detractors!!

While I might prefer that more liberal attitudes be applied to the decision-making process (I view Guantanamo as a stain on America's system of law and justice, and on our reputation in the world), in today's complicated world, where the failure to stop even a small terrorist attack could have a profound impact on the country and our politics, it seems that Mr. Obama has been forced to adopt a King Solomon-type approach to making the tough decisions.

While his critics paint him as weak on our enemies, he sits in the Terror Tuesday meetings, making the toughest decisions imaginable. And that is as it should be. Our system makes him the Commander-in-Chief. Therefore, it is comforting to know that he clearly takes that role very, very seriously.

So, the passion of the rhetoric of the campaign trail is replaced with cold and steely-eyed logic when these major decisions of life and death are made with the maximum precision and care possible. That should make all of us, whether liberal or conservative, sleep a little better at night.

Thank you, NYT, for your reporting on this important topic. And thank you, President Obama, for being willing to make the really, really tough choices on our behalf.

I'm trying to figure out where I stand on the whole thing right now. But that nonsense about how they're counting the casualties of those drone strikes does not sit well with me.

the "War on Terror is Over" ‘War on Terror Is Over’ - CNN iReport

'The War on Terror Is Over' | The Weekly Standard

'The War on Terror Is Over'
9:29 PM, APR 23, 2012 • BY DANIEL HALPER

In the wake of the Arab Spring, the Obama administration is grappling with how to handle Islamists, radical adherents to Islam. Particularly, the issue has come to the fore in regards to Egypt, which, as Reuel Marc Gerecht notes, "is now certain" to elect "an Islamist" as its leaders the next time the Egyptian people go to the polls.

But some in the Obama administration are now seeing things differently.

"The war on terror is over," a senior official in the State Department official tells the National Journal. "Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism."

This new outlook has, in the words of the National Journal, come from a belief among administration officials that "It is no longer the case, in other words, that every Islamist is seen as a potential accessory to terrorists."

The National Journal explains:

The new approach is made possible by the double impact of the Arab Spring, which supplies a new means of empowerment to young Arabs other than violent jihad, and Obama's savagely successful military drone campaign against the worst of the violent jihadists, al Qaida.

For the president himself, this new thinking comes from a "realiz[ation that] he has no choice but to cultivate the Muslim Brotherhood and other relatively 'moderate' Islamist groups emerging as lead political players out of the Arab Spring in Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere."

This new outlook is radically different than what was expressed under President George W. Bush immediately after September 11, 2001. "Over time it's going to be important for nations to know they will be held accountable for inactivity," Bush said on November 6, 2001. "You're either with us or against us in the fight against terror."

For President Barack Obama, it would seem, one can be both with us and against us--or not with us, but not quite against us.

Sooo all those laws/regs put into place to stop Tureesim can be rolled back right?? :ohhh:

What I find most hilarious about this that if it was revealed that GW Bush was doing this he'd be called an evil monster with no soul by every liberal on the planet but if Barry is the triggerman there needs to be a discussion had that weighs all the facts while either giving Obama the benefit of the doubt or praising him for his actions.
The hypocrisy is staggering.

It just shows how hallow and empty Obama and his followers are. They are an easy persuaded breed utterly lacking in convection and principles.

These are people that will sacrifice every freedom available to modern man in order to satisfy their own fascist goals.
