Breh I've been arguing with nmad nikkas about this. No producer should rap and no rapper should produce, few are good at both. The only good ones to me are Kanye, Dre, and KRIT really and 2 out of these get mad help in both areas (not saying this as a slight to them as their both great artists and some of the best to ever do it).

You'd be surprised at how many of their classics rappers like Puffy, Hav, Nas, Em, G. Rap, Rakim, Pac, LL, J. Cole, etc., had a hand in production-wise...actually it's more than I can count...it only becomes a problem when overall discretion is lacking and the rapper tries to carry a sound for the duration of an album without the necessary versatility...not even the Dre's and the Kanye's out there put out full projects without some help.
