Looks like Thurott was spot on with his 499 price of the new Xbox along with a subsidized model for 299. he did say the subsidized version would be 10 dollars a month, but has corrected himself to the current 15/month price.


So if you buy the new Xbox, after 2 years you looking at


Buy standalone = 499 + 40-60/year for live = 580 - 620 dollars
Subsidized model = 299 + 15 a month for 24 months = 660 dollars

And please believe if you don't pay or try to cancel, you won't be on live and there is a good chance they may even brick your system from paying until you get caught up on your monthly bill.

PS4 won't be more than 500. I'm still hoping for no more than 450 standalone. The only thing more "expensive" Sony is doing is using GDDR5. Memory drops quickly in price so that's not that big of deal. Sony spent their money on the memory, MS did with Kinect 2.0 and the appleTV/roku/cable features they are implementing.

However, I do see Sony doing something similar with Playstation Plus or the new rumored Playstation World (free online will be there, but I do agree with Gaikai features at a minimum will be part of the new PS Plus/World) being used to subsidize the PS4. My PS Plus is paid for through 2015 (I accidentally renewed twice ), but hopefully that transfer over to the new PS World.

With these subsidized models is that you'll need to be REAL careful if you buy used going forward. I'm hoping the subscription model at least have a different sku number so nikkaz don't get fukked over if they buy used. shyt's already happened with the 99 dollar subsidized xbox cats are trying to flip on Ebay and Craigs.

Everything between the two systems is pretty much the same. Except for the ram which is more expensive in the ps4. The one that foster the most to make will cost the most to buy. That's just how these things work. I know your gonna keep trying to spin it, but that's just reality
