After further reading seems it just a new start internally towards more "continuous updates" like Apple does with its products instead of a brand new operating system completely. Looks like they are getting rid of the "brand new operating system model" and also implementing more "basic" operating system for non-power users across multiple devices.
Naturally, that leads us into what this all means for current Windows 10 users. Will existing Windows 10 PCs be getting an update to Windows Core OS? Probably not. From what we've been able to tell, Windows Core OS is for new device experiences only. Legacy Windows 10, known as Windows Classic internally, will continue to be the power user option, that features all the legacy components and backward compatibility for the users that need it.

What the heck is Windows Core OS? Here's a not-so-brief explainer.

Nah they're just announcing new hardware and will use the ARM processor pc to show they're with the times.

Might see some updates regarding edge and tabs in powershell, but most of that stuff has been in preview for quite some time.

I wish Microsoft would give a core version of 10 similar to Server. Give people who don't want all of that bloat an option to get rid of it and have an OS with the bare minimum of what they want or need.

Surface Pro 7 releasing October 22nd. Starting at $749. Surface laptop 3 also announced. I think it was 999 for 13.5 and 1199 for the 15 inch.

Its Windows 10 X, its for dual screen devices

TBH dont there will be a "new OS" Win10 will just keep being updated - vaguely remember MS saying Win10 will be the last Windows.

Its all "as a service" in this day and age

Windows vista all over again. Giving customers what they don’t want.

man early 2000s Microsoft had the OS system on its fingertips, now they completely fumbled it and let mac and Linux eat up the market share. I see more macs on the streets than I do windows laptops
