WWE Legend The Undertaker (Mark Calaway) says he will continue wrestling at WrestleMania until he feels like he cannot perform as the "top dog" in the wrestling industry anymore. Calaway says that time has not come.
In a rare interview, Calaway told Houston Chronicle columnist Ken Hoffman why he continues to wrestle considering his history of injuries.
"Honestly, I love it, that's why," Calaway said. "I've got 26 years in the business and all these injuries, but WrestleMania has become so huge, it's just hard to walk away from it. I want the audience leaving the stadium going 'Wow!' It's a responsibility I have being a top dog in this business. The crowd will let me know when it's time to leave. They haven't yet."
Calaway also said that "If I didn't perform at WrestleMania, in some strange weird way, I'd feel like I was letting Vince McMahon down."
As for his downtime in-between WrestleMania appearances, Taker said he spends time with his family and works on his "horrible golf game," but says "most of my time is spent healing up, so I can be The Undertaker again."
FYI: Calaway's rare media interview with his hometown newspaper was to promote a charity raffle for a custom bike benefiting America's Mighty Warriors veterans support group and SPUR Compassion Ministries of Lake Hills Church in Austin, Texas. Details on the raffle, which ends Friday night, are at SpurRaffle.com .
