New Orleans and the Gulf Coast were bracing for a deadly interloper named Isaac, who was expected to grow into a massive Category 1 hurricane packing 95-mph winds when he makes landfall on Tuesday.
President Obama declared a state of emergency in Louisiana ahead of the storm, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency was already on the ground and prepared for the worst Isaac could throw at them.
Meanwhile, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal shelved plans to sing Mitt Romneys praises at the GOP convention in Tampa and announced he would ride out the storm back home in Baton Rouge.
