New Borderlands 2 Trailer

I skipped over the first game and didn't bother looking into it until earlier this year, but I thought' it'll be too late to pick it up with the second one about to drop. Are these games really that good? I might be tempted to pick this up if enough people are down for some coop. Is this a game where everyone has to be around the same level to get enjoyment out of coop?
