During the peak of bendis' avengers [btw, there was NO REASON for this title to have the new avengers label] hypefest...in the background of all of the events and crossovers was 'new avengers illuminati', which was a collective of all the top minds and powers in the marvel universe who made decisions.
It was an incredible way to sew connections, history, and lead to new stories while planting seeds for others.
When hulk went mad in vegas that planted the seed for civil war that stamford jumped off. When they sent hulk to earth namor was like "
he's gonna be back and YOU WILL ALL PAY DEARLY," leading to WWH. Civil war was a constant talking point by ironman, and even ironman's involvement led to him being viewed as more important which was obviously imperative for disney [
