I'm a huge Adam Curtis fan and I'm not sure if people on the coli are too familiar.

I've seen the names of his previous docs dropped here before so I dunno if people are into it. His most well known is The Century of the Self.

Either way I definitely recommend a look at all his documentaries as well as his BBC blog. I don't agree with everything he says and he veers close to being contradictory with a lot of his musings and ideas, but he's at least always thought provoking. And that's all I ever really ask for :damngoodcoffee:

His new one is Bitter Lake and I'm about halfway through it at the moment. I'll drop thoughts afterwards.

And here's some Bitter Lake warm-up :mjpls:

I think I liked this. It's much better than All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace in that it is much more focused.

But this is by far his most dreamlike, surreal and disturbing. Plus it sheds a lot of light on the Afghanistan invasions and the history behind the almost farcical happenings there. I guess they would be legitimately farcical if thousands of people hadn't died as a result.

I love his docs. Great story teller and director. The Kabul footage was crazy and i loved the use of Kanye's "Runaway". The shyt came out of nowhere...in the middle of watching some serious life shyt like:

The entire doc's soundtrack stood out to me. Gonna have to check it out.
