My how the tables have turned
Netflix has all these good shows and HBO has some comedies and GOT

What happened to HBO? There was a time where you had Sopranoes,The Wire,True Blood, and True Detective
Now they are basically having an abundance of good comedies like Vice Principles and Ballers but no drama's outside of GOT

Are showtime and cinemax poaching the shows like that or has Netflix finally become the go to platform for a lot of drama's now

I won't lie Netflix has a lot of good shows but besides Narcos and Bloodlines I wouldn't really rank any of them up with the prime HBO shows
Right now though
HBO is on comedy status
They are desperately looking for that next hit show once GOT ends but I see a lot of cable channels like AMC,FX,USA cutting into what shows would go to their network.
Might be a problem once GOT ends since before last year HBO hadn't won the outstanding drama series emmy in awhile

Hopefully Westworld is fire, because once GOT ends :whew:

HBO still does good miniseries

it's not so much poaching as it is HBO getting consumed by the arrogance of past success (that they feel they could pass on so many of these projects). HBO has built enough of a lead over the comp to have first refusal
or has Netflix finally become the go to platform for a lot of drama's now
how do you start the thread asking this then make this statement
I won't lie Netflix has a lot of good shows but besides Narcos and Bloodlines I wouldn't really rank any of them up with the prime HBO shows
:mindblown:

Netflix no has passed HBO as the go to network for creators. Those straight to series orders have creators salivating if you sell to Netflix. Also HBO buys a lot of shows, but there is a logjam in their development pipeline. Lots of projects they buy, they don't make. HBO needs to start taking chances again on creators and ideas, and stop going after A-list packages.

The Chi (South Side)
when it comes to current original content, I think showtime is even beating HBO with the likes of:

ray donovan
shameless
homeland

to name a few.

STARZ has Power and Survivor's Remorse. At this point I'll take that over what HBO is offering me.

Are we really gonna pretend the night of didn't have the entire country fawning over HBO? Literally last week it was the most talked about show everywhere except here.
