Netflix has made a two-season commitment to
Love, a new "unflinching, hilarious and excruciatingly honest take on modern relationships," from
Judd Apatow (Girls, Knocked Up, Anchorman), Lesley Arfin (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Girls) and actor Paul Rust.
Love will debut with 10 episodes in 2016 in all Netflix territories, and then with 12 episodes the following year.
Love follows Gus (Rust, I Love You, Beth Cooper, Inglorious Basterds) and Mickey (Community's Gillian Jacobs) as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid. And yes, to assuage anxieties, Jacobs
will be in Season 6 of
Community on Yahoo Screen. With a 2016 release date, Love will begin production long after Community's schedule.
Judd Apatow, Gillian Jacobs.
The half-hour comedy series is produced by Apatow Productions and Legendary Television, and created and written by Apatow, Rust and Arfin (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Girls). Brent Forrester (The Office, The Simpsons) will executive produce.
“Judd Apatow has a unique comedic voice that manages to be delightful, insightful, and shockingly frank -- often at the same time,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. “Together with Paul and Lesley, he’s bringing a whole new level of agony and ecstasy to this modern day comedy of manners.”
"I am so excited to get to work with Paul and Lesley on this project,” said Apatow. “Netflix has been supportive in ways I couldn’t create in my wildest fever dreams.”
“We at Legendary are thrilled to be working with the wonderfully talented Judd and excited to partner with the Netflix team,” said Bruce Rosenblum, Legendary Television’s President of Television and Digital Media “We look forward to validating their support for this innovative and genuinely funny series.”
