The album had already been out for almost a year when the song & video dropped, and by that point people had began turning on Nelly b/c of massive pop hits like "Dilemma" (w/ Kelly Rowland), "Hot In Herre", "AF1's" and "Work It" (w/ Timberlake)....so when "Pimp Juice" dropped, to many rap fans he was now a pop artist and they didnt even check for it & didnt want to be heard bumping Nelly's music.
But standing on it's own, "Pimp Juice" is a classic record. It was totally unique in it's style while also coming off as completely authentic....and that's hard to do. People tried to discredit the lyrics like, "you aint from Russia, so why rushin"....but that's just the entire point of the song to say some funny(but catchy), over the top, outlandish pimp talk.
IMO, it's one of the best pimp/playa songs since the beginning of the 00's, and that style is something that's supremely missing from rap music nowadays.
