Needs tips on mixing vocals

like in this song i just mixed MP3 Player SoundClick doesnt sound that bad i did the eq, the compression, and the reverb among most. so what exactly did i miss can anybody tell whats the basics are ive always had a problem when it comes to balancing my vocals.

Well,There are no preset formulas when it comes to mixing.Use what the track needs,don't compress if it's not needed,or anything else for that matter.After listening to the track the eq sounds a lil harsh or maybe it's the mic you recorded on,try to take it easy on the high end,work on the mid's and low end on the vocals.
If all else fails,send the track to us lol.

in terms of order, i personally like to de-ess, then EQ (to remove shytty sounding frequencies), then run the vocals through a compressor, then do any EQ boosting. but really up to you and how you like shyt to sound

preciate the info i did kinda go a little to crazy on the eq in the high end side. ive never messed with the de-esser before though yet i see alot of people talk about it in mixing. what exactly does it do?

a lot of times you'll get shyt like a lot of pronounced S (ess) and P (pee) sounds that don't sound that great. ideally you have a pop filter or something to catch them when you're recording, but a de-esser is another way to kind of increase the quality of your vocal if you're noticing shyt like that.
