NBA adds players, media vote to All-Star Game starters selections - NBA.com

NEW YORK (AP) -- The NBA is adding players and media to the voting process in a change to the way starters for the All-Star Game are selected.

Fans will account for 50 percent of the vote, while all current players and a panel of basketball media will each account for 25 percent.

The NBA has used fan voting to select the starters for its midseason game since the 1974-75 season.

Voting begins Sunday during the NBA's five-game Christmas lineup. Players can each complete one ballot, featuring three frontcourt players and two guards in each conference, and may vote for themselves or teammates.

Fans can submit one ballot each day through NBA.com, the NBA App, Twitter, Facebook and Google Search, as well as via Sina Weibo and Tencent Microblogs in China.

Voting will conclude Jan. 16. The All-Star Game is Feb. 19 in New Orleans.

:ohhh: I'll be interested to see how this plays out.

Allowing the players to vote for themselves and their teammates is dumb as fukk though.

The fukkery though when it leaks what players didn't vote for their teammates though. John Wall certainly not voting Bradley Beal in. Porzingis not giving a vote for Melo or D. Rose. :mjpls:

Letting fans submit multiple ballots is always stupid to me. Create an organized system that lets you cast only one vote. It'll help offset people who vote everyday because Drake told them to vote for Raptors starters every day.

I don't understand why people ever bytched about the All Star starters in the first place, like the game even fukking matters. It's an exhibition game for the fans, let them pick; the media bytched about this shyt forever though.

The game doesn't matter anymore(because these guys don't even play hard) but the selections do. Fans shouldn't be able to vote for the ducking starting lineup, they always get it wrong.

It's just messed up that some players have incentives tied up to this now because it's became sorta a popularity contest as well.
